The Thursday before Shrove Tuesday, Eguen Zuri in Basque (literally White Thursday) and Jueves de Lardero or Jueves Gordo in Spanish, is widely celebrated in our territory.

In numerous localities of Nafarroa and Araba, it was a day devoted to children, their rounds and their rituals.

In Bizkaia groups of young boys and girls walked about singing stanzas similar to these collected here and still heard in the Durango area.
