This is the end of the summertime, a season for loving. The journey started on May and carried on along the summer season. As the sayings goes: “San Simon eta San Juda, joan zen uda eta negua heldu da” (Saint Simon and Saint Jude, the summer is gone and the winter has arrived). After a short rest, the autumn activities take over (harvesting, chestnut picking around Saint Michael’s Day, pig slaughtering for the feast of Saint Martin, seaside jobs…), and the shortening of daylight hours. Indoors chores recover their importance, and hand in hand with the new season come the enterprises and traditions that precede the winter campaign.
