There is another quite unique water ritual still alive in Araba and Nafarroa, as experts explain. In some places of those regions, the young people of the village make a kind of puppet out of, perhaps, an old wine skin. The puppet is taken up and down the village while the boys voice expressions such as erre puierre!, erre putierre! and other similar slogans. The skin puppet is finally burned. Some people think that the burning of the puppet to ashes symbolises the end of the old year.
