We have looked at Carnival rites connected with an agricultural and pastoral scenery. However, in Basque towns we do find Carnival celebrations adapted to an urban context.

These instances are from two towns on the Bizkaian coast. The first song is performed by Lekeitioko Estudiantina at Carnival time and is the nearest version to the 19th century original song.

Next comes a song sung by Mundaka Atorrak. Aratuste is the Basque word for Spanish Carnaval or Carnestolendas.
